This is a beautiful and very hardy Dioon. It is distinguished by its strongly keeled (V-shaped) leaves. In its native habitat, in the Mexican state of Oaxaca, it grows in high desert locations, at elevations from 6,500--10,500 feet in elevation.
Dioon califanoi will grow to 10 ft. in trunk height, with an 8-12 inch diameter. Its strongly V-shaped leaves are blue-green to glaucous gray. It can handle full sun, and some of the more extreme temperatures for a cycad, ranging from frost to extreme heat.
