![]() | Information on PresentationOn October 29, 2005, The Palm Society of Northern California, and Markham Regional Arboretum Society will offer enthusiasts of palms and rare plants a unique opportunity to learn about endangered species preservation, and perhaps participate in "preservation through propagation" by acquiring an endangered species plant. From 1PM to 3:30 PM, Maurice Levin, owner of The Jurassic Garden at A&A Cycads will host a visual workshop titled “Cycad Horticultural Practices for California” (subtitled "How to Really Preserve and Not Kill the Endangered Species We’re Growing, and Why We Should"). The presentation will be followed by a plant sale including a selection of rare cold-hardy cycads, from seedlings to larger specimens, many of which have not been made available in Northern California, at least in these sizes, rare species and low prices. Refreshments will be provided. This event will be held at the Markham Regional Arboretum Society located in the city of Concord, at 1202 La Vista Avenue, on Saturday, October 29 from 1PM-3:30PM, More details will be available later on this website. Cycads of various sizes will be available for sale before and after the 2:00 PM workshop, and an auction will be held to sell all plants that remain, so there will be some good values, including wholesale-priced seedlings in community pots suitable for growers and nurseries. Markham Arboretum is at the end of La Vista Ave in Concord. Please check back later for further details.
