This is the Congolese Ituri Forest giant cycad, a fast-growing & rare plant. This large-growing cycad is native to a remote region in the northeastern region of the Democratic Republic of Congo, near the western shores of Lake Albert. It is virtually impossible to access this habitat, due to the interminable rains, and the political instability of that country.
The Ituri Cycad grows leaves to 12 feet long, with a trunk reaching nearly 20 feet high over time. It is fast growing and responds well to regular water and sunlight.
