These small Zamias grow in the Central American rainforest. This small but very unusual cycad generally has a subterranean trunk, and variegated leaves. It is the only naturally variegated cycad. It likes warmth, shade, and more water than most cycads. It needs shelter in temperate regions, and is probably a house plant in most areas outside the tropics and subtropics.
