N.B.: As of Saturday evening, March 1, all of these plants have now been sold. Please see http://cycadpalm.com/newraplim1.html for additional discounted import plants.
Yes, that's an Encephalartos hirsutus. We've purchased a number of plants in South Africa, all before the February 1, 2008 deadline for transacting in 11 extremely rare species.
We have a limited number of "extra" plants included in this purchase, plants that we were able to purchase at the last minute. The plants on the attached list don't have owners like the rest of the plants we've already bought.
Please click on the links provided to see what's left.
The plant you see in this photo is a really nice Encephalartos friderici guilielmi from Charlie Hewson's collection, in Port Elizabeth, South Africa, which my son Adam (pictured) and I visited with some friends in 2002.
Below you will find some similarly nice (though not as large) plants that are the "add-ons" to the large rare plant purchase we made in late 2007. These plants are on their way to the USA as we speak, permits and all.
