This is Boyer's breakthrough 1992 book for those of us who grow cycads and palms outside of the tropics. It includes excellent cold rating data for cycads and palms, and a unique climate zone chart that will help you identify which plants you can grow in your part of the world. This book went out of print, and a second edition was printed in 1999. We're told that edition is just about to go out of print, as well. WHAT IS CAUDEX SIZE? You’ll notice we list and price cycads by caudex size. The caudex is a cycad’s woody, bulblike trunk, and caudex size is a good measure of cycad age. The chart below can give you a rough idea of how this translates to pot size.
