Jody Haynes is a Cycad Biologist formerly with the Montgomery Botanical Center in Miami, Florida. He has extensive background and expertise in cycad botany and taxonomy, particularly among the cycads of the Americas. Jody completed an expedition to Central America in mid-2003, where he visited populations of 3 new cycad species. He also greatly increased the available knowledge of the range and populations of Dioon mejiae, visiting more than 20 populations.
