| Encephalartos turneriEncephalartos turneri is an extremely rare plant from Mozambique. It grows in the Nampula region in north-central Mozambique central Mozambique, in a habitat dominated by granite rocks on the tops of mountains. E. turneri grows to become a medium sized clumping cycad to about 10 feet of trunk height, with up to 4 erect or reclining trunks. These trunks initially exhibit themselves as multiple offsets on the young plant. Its leaves leaves grow to 6 feet long, with dark green, leathery leaflets. These very thick, boat-shaped leaflets become cupped as the plant matures. As the result of meetings with Mozambique government officials, and a series of written agreements with officials in that country, A&A Cycads is pleased to offer Encephalartos turneri Seedlings from 3 different ecotypes, consisting of 4 different forms of this rare plant. These seedlings come from the only E. turneri seeds to be legally importable into the USA from Mozambique, and consist of the following: WHAT IS CAUDEX SIZE? You’ll notice we list and price cycads by caudex size. The caudex is a cycad’s woody, bulblike trunk, and caudex size is a good measure of cycad age. The chart below can give you a rough idea of how this translates to pot size.
