This relatively unknown cycad is native to southeastern Democratic Republic of Congo. It is a small cycad developing a partially subterranean trunk, whose stem may grow to 10 inches in height. Its leaves push out blue-green up to 4 feet in length. We were fortunate to find a grower who has succeeded in artificially propagating fertile seeds, and this was one of the last seeds permitted for export. It is unlikely we will be getting any more seed of these plants in the foreseeable future, so these plants are a particularly valuable commodity.
