| This large-growing cycad is native to a remote region in the northeastern region of the Democratic Republic of Congo, near the western shores of Lake Albert. It is virtually impossible to access this habitat, due to the interminable rains, and the political instability of that country. These seedlings come the seed of nursery plants, not the Congo, though! The Ituri Cycad grows leaves to 12 feet long, with a trunk reaching nearly 20 feet high over time. It is fast growing and responds well to regular water and sunlight. We are currently out of stock in seedlings but you can follow this link to shop for more mature Encephalartos ituriensis plants. WHAT IS CAUDEX SIZE? You’ll notice we list and price cycads by caudex size. The caudex is a cycad’s woody, bulblike trunk, and caudex size is a good measure of cycad age. The chart below can give you a rough idea of how this translates to pot size.
