| Encephalartos inopinusCurrently out of stock. If you would like to be informed when this plant becomes available, please email us at info@cycads.com This rare cycad is found only in a few small areas of the Lydenburg district of South Africa's Limpopo Province. It grows in thick bush, on cliffs and escarpments on dolomite rocky slopes overlooking gorges. In habitat, these plants are typically pendulous, hanging off the sides of cliffs with the growing point upturned. It has a spreading crown of flat, bluish leaves with well-spaced, spineless, broad-based leaflets that droop away from the rachis. WHAT IS CAUDEX SIZE? You’ll notice we list and price cycads by caudex size. The caudex is a cycad’s woody, bulblike trunk, and caudex size is a good measure of cycad age. The chart below can give you a rough idea of how this translates to pot size.
