| (Please click on the image above to see a larger view) Sorry...These are all seedlings, now. Please click your way over to the seedling section of this website. We have secured a limited number of the seeds of a wide-leafed form of E. ferox, with large leaflets—from two to three inches wide and more than 7 inches long! If you look above at the picture on the left, you'll see the size of these leaflets. The picture on the right is NOT of our plant, but rather, a more typical ferox, with 1 inch wide leaflets. In the wild, these plants are found in Mozambique, as opposed to the forms found further south in South Africa. Encephalartos ferox puts out a bright red cone at maturity. Its stem/caudex can grow to over three feet tall, and 10-12 inches diameter. Mature leaves grow to 3-6 feet in length, and are a highly glossy, dark green. These are artificially propagated, freshly harvested seeds are from a domestic U.S. domestic source, and may be shipped within the United States only. We have a very limited number of these seeds, and you may purchase them at the following prices per seed: 10-49 seeds: $3.50 Per Seed 50-99 seeds: $3.00 Per Seed 100+ seeds: $2.50 Per Seed These seeds have been harvested from artificially propagated plants in the United States. They are available for sale in the U.S.A. only at this time, as the permitting process for export is unfortunately quite extensive and not cost-effective at this point. Sprouted E. ituriensis Seeds You Save, We Grow for You $62.50 WHAT IS CAUDEX SIZE? You’ll notice we list and price cycads by caudex size. The caudex is a cycad’s woody, bulblike trunk, and caudex size is a good measure of cycad age. The chart below can give you a rough idea of how this translates to pot size.
