Encephalartos chimanimaniensis is an extremely rare cycad native to habitats along the Mozambique-Zimbabwe border and in the steep quartzite rock slopes of Mozambique. Cycad expert Douglas Goode has noted that Encephalartos chimanimaniensis has a very restricted distribution in the Chimanimani Mountains.
