| Encephalartos cerinus: The Waxen CycadClick here to see an enlarged photo of this plant. Encephalartos cerinus was described in 1989. Only two small colonies of this species were ever found. Unfortunately, these colonies no longer exist, and now Encephalartos cerinus is only found in botanical gardens, private gardens, and nurseries. The Encephalartos cerinus we grow are propagated from second-generation nursery plants.
WHAT IS CAUDEX SIZE? You’ll notice we list and price cycads by caudex size. The caudex is a cycad’s woody, bulblike trunk, and caudex size is a good measure of cycad age. The chart below can give you a rough idea of how this translates to pot size.
