This is the rare and desirable "Fishtail" form of Encephalartos transvenosus. This form of Encephalartos transvenosus grows in a specific locality in the Soutpansberg mountain range, west of the town of Louis Trichardt, in the Limpopo province of South Africa. Popular among cycad enthusiasts, this form features overlapping leaflets with pungent teeth on their lower edges. These leaflets line up in straight rows down the length of the very vertical leaves, and tend to curl downwards on their underside.
Just a look at the photos of this plant will show you how different its form is from the “regular” form of Encephalartos transvenosus.
