It grows to a 8 ft. trunk height, wiht dull grey-green leaves covered with a fine wool similar to that of some of the South Africa cycads. Its leaves and leaflets are shorter and wider than E. septentrionalis, which also grows in southern Sudan. This cycad should be grown in bright sun, and watered very sparingly in cold weather when it is dormant. WHAT IS CAUDEX SIZE? You’ll notice we list and price cycads by caudex size. The caudex is a cycad’s woody, bulblike trunk, and caudex size is a good measure of cycad age. The chart below can give you a rough idea of how this translates to pot size.
