| Encephalartos arenarius x horridusEncephalartos arenarius x horridus is a marvelous blue plant and another exquisite cross originally introduced to me by my friend, Jeff Chemnick. Encephalartos arenarius x horridus has the attractive leaf characteristics of the Encephalartos arenarius, but its color is influenced by the silvery-blue leaves of Encephalartos horridus. These are seed grown plants, and we are listing here two distinct varieties of this cross. One, with more E. arenarius influence, has larger and greener leaves. The other, with more E. horridus influence, has more blue leaves, as you'll see when you click the photos below.
WHAT IS CAUDEX SIZE? You’ll notice we list and price cycads by caudex size. The caudex is a cycad’s woody, bulblike trunk, and caudex size is a good measure of cycad age. The chart below can give you a rough idea of how this translates to pot size.
