Echeveria elegans is a succulent which forms tight rosettes of light gray-green leaves which can take on a rose pink color with winter chill.
Echeveria elegans grows numerous offsets which can a create a groundcover spreading to about 12 inches or form a dense small mound to 8 inches tall. It grows pink flowers with a yellow tinge. It is drought resistant, and enjoys an occasional watering in a well-drained soil, growing well in full coastal sun and part shade inland. It is hardy to 20-25 degrees F. Native to Northern Mexico in the Chihuahuan-Tehuacan Deserts, and also known as Mexican Snowball or Mexican Gem.
