| The Display GardenClick on the image to enlarge it for a better view. This is a portion of the display garden in our nursery. We've discovered a number of plants that work well with cycads, including the ground cover Dymondia, prostrate Rosemary, and blue fescue (Festuca ovina glauca). We've also started to integrate some Aloes into the landscape. Aloes grow in many of the same habitats as do cycads, and have some similar climate requirements. They're also very intriguing landscape specimens. WHAT IS CAUDEX SIZE? You’ll notice we list and price cycads by caudex size. The caudex is a cycad’s woody, bulblike trunk, and caudex size is a good measure of cycad age. The chart below can give you a rough idea of how this translates to pot size.
