| Dioon SeedlingsDioons grow to be tall. And with recorded stems heights of 15 meters or 49 feet, they are second in height only to those of Lepidozamia. The name Dioon comes from the Greek for "two eggs" and refers to female cones, which has two seeds attached to each sporophyll. This species of this intriguing, and generally blue, genus come from Mexico. That is, all except for mejiae which resides in habitat in Honduras. WHAT IS CAUDEX SIZE? You’ll notice we list and price cycads by caudex size. The caudex is a cycad’s woody, bulblike trunk, and caudex size is a good measure of cycad age.
