| This species comes from a very restricted habitat, growing on a sand stone mountain under a tree canopy at an altitude of 700-1300 feet, 300 miles north of Bangkok. According to our supplier, there are fewer than 200 trees left in habitat. It is very dry there in summer. This species develops a dark brownish trunk with long leaves approx 9 feet long. WHAT IS CAUDEX SIZE? You’ll notice we list and price cycads by caudex size. The caudex is a cycad’s woody, bulblike trunk, and caudex size is a good measure of cycad age. The chart below can give you a rough idea of how this translates to pot size.
