| Cycas diannanensisThis is a rare cycad that was discovered only a few years ago growing on limestone slopes in cloud forests up to 4000 feet above sea level, along the Red River in China's Yunnan province. It develops a short trunk up to 10 feet tall and an upright crown of large, bright green leaves with up to 300 wide, undulate leaflets.
WHAT IS CAUDEX SIZE? You’ll notice we list and price cycads by caudex size. The caudex is a cycad’s woody, bulblike trunk, and caudex size is a good measure of cycad age. The chart below can give you a rough idea of how this translates to pot size.
