To see larger size plants of this species, please click on the following link: Larger Plants of this Species This ultra-blue Australian cycad is distinguished from other Australian species by the relatively broad, bluish leaflets with slightly recurved margins, the persistent white tomentum (fuzz), and its blue seeds. Benefits of this plant include high tolerance to sun, drought, heat, cold and frost. According to Loran Whitelock, in The Cycads, "Frost is not uncommon in this cycad's habitat, and plants in cultivation have shown an exceptional tolerance to cold." These plants are rarely available in the USA, so this may be an opportunity to benefit from a direct import at better prices than normal. WHAT IS CAUDEX SIZE? You’ll notice we list and price cycads by caudex size. The caudex is a cycad’s woody, bulblike trunk, and caudex size is a good measure of cycad age. The chart below can give you a rough idea of how this translates to pot size.
