This cycad was discovered only a few years ago growing on limestone slopes in cloud forests up to 4000 feet above sea level, along the Red River in China's Yunnan province. It develops a short trunk up to 10 feet tall and an upright crown of large, bright green leaves with up to 300 wide, undulate leaflets. The large seeds are easy to sprout and seedling growth is fast. We believe this to be a very cold-tolerant cycad.
