| Cycas mediaCycas media grows in Australia, in scrub-filled hillsides, and in the narrow hollows of rock crevices between ridges in coastal Queensland, from Rockhampton north to Cape York. Its grows on the edges of tropical forests, often bordering rain forests, in rocky soils. Its trunk will grow to 10 feet or taller over time. Leaves reach up to 6 feet long. This plant will benefit from full sun, and needs very good drainage.
WHAT IS CAUDEX SIZE? You’ll notice we list and price cycads by caudex size. The caudex is a cycad’s woody, bulblike trunk, and caudex size is a good measure of cycad age. The chart below can give you a rough idea of how this translates to pot size.
