Agave tequilana 'Sunrise' – ‘Tequila Sunrise Agave’

Agave tequilana 'Sunrise' – ‘Tequila Sunrise Agave’

Agave tequilana (Tequila Sunrise Agave) is a medium-to-large agave which grows a rosette to 5-6 feet tall. Agave tequilana is a cultivar of the plant used to make tequila, so, not that we’re suggesting it, but one could potentially make tequila from this plant!

Agave tequilana has open rosettes of narrow light blue-gray colored leaves with pale yellow bands along the edges. Tequila Sunrise Agave grows well in full sun to light shade in well drained soil. It needs little added irrigation in coastal climates. It is hardy to 20-25°F. Agave tequilana (Tequila Sunrise Agave) will sucker to form open clumps but looks best if you harvest off the offsets, and maintain each plant as a solitary rosette or in well-spaced groups.
